2. The physicochemical parameters and aquatic Mycoflora of Thomas dam

The research was conducted to investigate the variation in physico-chemical parameters in relation to fungal mycoflora of Thomas dam. During the research, 63 water samples were collected from 9 stations of the dam on monthly basis from Sept., 2014 to March 2015 and analysed for physico- chemical parameters such as temperature, pH, Transparency, conductivity, dissolved oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5) total dissolve nitrogen and total organic carbon as well as fungal mycoflora results of the research have shown that there were a lot of variation in the physicochemical parameters. Similarly, there were significant difference (P>0.05) in the distribution of fungal mycoflora through the study period. Some of the species recorded during the research were Achlys dubia, Alternaria alternata, Aqualderella fermentans, Aureobasidium pullulans, Candida albicans, Cladosporium herbarum, Dictyuchus monosporus, Fusarium oxysporum, Penicillium digitatum, Pythium debaryanum, Rhodotorula mucilaginosa, Saprolegnia ferax and Trichoderma viride. The result showed the highest occurrence of fungal mycoflora in October, while in March recorded the least of occurrence of fugal mycoflora. The results suggest that the distribution of mycoflora of Thomas dam depends on the physicochemical parameters.
